'Beginnings' is the first part of a trilogy in which Elena looks at the hands through which a human life passes. She follows people that everyone has to deal with in his/her life: a doctor, a bus driver, a teacher, someone who supports and guides at the end of a life, ...

For "Beginnings," Elena followed a midwifery practice, attended a number of deliveries, talked with wish-parents, grandparents and parents, with children and with ordinary people.

All have begun at some point. Whether that beginning is at birth or somewhere else.
