Heimat 3

De Nwe Tijd builds a house for James Wood. For whom? James Wood, an Englishman who posted a reaction on November 23, 2016, under a YouTube video titled "to build a home," a melancholic song about the desire for a home. He wrote in that response that he was not doing well, that his best friend had committed suicide a year earlier. Three times that friend had tried to call him on that particular evening, but he had not picked up his phone because he was playing on his Playstation. He wrote that he felt so guilty and sad. And so lonely. Nobody responded.

Only when he adjusted his message a year later and wrote that he was still not doing well, suddenly hundreds of people sent him virtual hugs, hearts and advice.

De Nwe Tijd decided to look for him to talk to him. Who is he? How is he doing now? And why has there recently been a minister of loneliness in England? And why did James Wood place his cry of despair precisely under the song "to build a home"? With these questions, through search histories, manuals and the lack thereof, De Nwe Tijd makes a funny as well as sad, hopeful and merciless attempt to build a house.

For James Wood. And for everyone who looks a bit like him. Heimat 3 is the third performance in a series of stand-alone performances, which start from an ongoing investigation into connectedness.
