Hitler is dead,
I repeat, Adolf Hitler is dead

Hitler is dead, I repeat, Adolph Hitler is dead. With these words BBC World Radio opened on April 30, 1945. Hitler is dead. His main seconds Goebbels and Himmler took their own lives. Goering and Speer soon fall into the hands of the West. The Axis of Evil has been vanquished, the world is in ruins. The cleansing must begin, and the guilty must be punished.

Against the backdrop of a city in ruins, four young allied employees attempt to develop morality for the futur. In the meantime, tensions and differences of opinion arise between the defendants themselves. Because the survival strategy of the one means death sentence for the other. Hitler is dead. But the bitter legacy he leaves is enormous.

In the autmn of 2021, it will be exactly 75 years ago that the Nuremberg trials took place. Hitler's successor Hermann Goering committed suicide in his cell, other Nazi leaders were sentenced to death or received long-term prison sentences.

On the occasion of that 75th anniversary, Stijn Devillé is making a new staging of his instant classic from 2009. Devillé broke through with this piece and Hitler is Death was awarded and translated several times. Twelve years later, it's time for a brand new staging based on a new dramaturgy, with not only a new title, but also a new set design and costumes, as well as a thoroughly revamped cast and crew. And with a new company.
