The giant killer of Ernest Hemingway

Ernest Hemingway. Writer of 'The sun also rises' and 'The old man & the sea'. Nobel Prize winner. Woman's devourer. World traveler. Suicide bomber. Everywhere in the world, from Cuba to Paris, from Tanzania to Idaho, he has known for his high alcohol tolerance. He had only two conditions with regard to his fire water: never whie writing and preferably post meridiem. But why so excessive? Why did he seem to want to destroy himself? Until it eventually became his self-planned death?

In one of his many well-known letters, Hemingway uses a striking word: "Alcohol was the Giant Slayer, which I have so often been unable to exclude; or at least would have liked to be able to go outside." Although his drinking brothers used different concepts - the blue devil, the big beast, the worm - they all seemed to use their addiction as a weapon against teh same frightening enemy. but which enemy was that?

Thomas Janssens writes a new text for five top actors: Lois Brochez, Clara Cleymans, Mieke de Grootte, Dahlia Pessemiers-Benamar en Geert Van Rampelberg. Together they bring the chronicle of a morbid addiction told by the main witnesses: Hemingways women.
